Guilds, Countries and Groups, Oh My!
In General:
We put a character's guild as their membergroup. A guild is an organization that a character becomes licensed with to be acknowledged at their class and to get jobs. Not every character needs to be in a guild, but this is a way to give character reason to meet and talk with each other. That said, guilds are not the only way that characters are grouped.
Guilds:
Like the Mage Guild, Knight Guild, Mercenaries guild, etc. There are also unaffiliated and other groups. These will be the member groups for the site. Most of these guilds require that a character license with them before calling themselves a mage, knight, mercenary, etc. That is just an IC excuse to get people to join them. For those of you that have no interest in a guild, just say your character joined on but they never go there.
Countries:
Every character has a nationality. This is either where the character comes from or the country that they associate themselves with. It will be difficult traveling the world without having a nationality because many town guards, politicians and important people will ask where your character is from.
While a character might have a nationality, understand that some races are more common in some countries. If your character is a Kagani Elf living in Gardenia, don't be surprised if other characters think they are from Kagano.
Groups:
Members are free to construct their own groups. A group would be any arrangement of characters that live or work together. However, if a group functions like a guild you should consider requesting it become an official site guild. You will find that information on the World Building page.
