Dahlia Haven, known as Black Dahlia or The Plague, is a missing Gardenian necromancer who attended Violetsage’s magic academy. When she first showed up at the academy years ago in her early adoloscence, other students and staff cite that she seemed to “show up out of nowhere”. Nobody learned her last name, nor the prestige that it actually held in her homeland. She claimed to have no family, and grew up in poverty using her magic to get by. Whether or not it was a fabricated story, the academy was too impressed by prodigal talent with magic to care and ultimately overlooked her eccentric background.
Even amongst the elvish populace of Violetsage, Dahlia was considered exceptional at the use of magic. Staff say that she was a phenomenal student with talent, potential, and a knack for learning. She was acknowledged by the Mage’s Guild early because of her skill. People referred to her as a vibrant girl, but one that kept to herself. She seemed to be drawn towards the darker arts; anything that required black mana as a base. She was always reading up on black magic, always asked questions about dangerous, forbidden areas of the art. Nobody noticed what she was after until it was too late. Eventually, she broke into the locked section of a library and got her hands on forbidden knowledge, the lost knowledge of necromancy.
Dahlia took almost every book the academy had on the art, then left. The guild never heard from her again, and the academy never heard from her again. Authorities were contacted and searches were attempted, but the lost books were never recovered. It has been four to five years since the incident, and now Gardenia gossips about undead sightings; a dramatic rise in the living dead’s population steadily occurred since her departure, resulting in the populace crediting Dahlia for the danger, but with no evidence, it stands as mere speculation. If it is true, her motive is unknown, but if left unchecked, The Plague—used to refer to its creator and its evil, undead denizens, may swallow the world in time.
